Make a Deal
I wandered in the wilderness
Searching in the fog
I viewed the world with disbelief
A cracked and broken cog
Then the dark enchanter
Edged into my view
He carried pen and paper
The ink was up to you
His deal was so enticing
It offered me a way
But I studied all the small print
And said I wouldn't pay
He told me that there was no catch
His guarantee was gold
And if I gave my all to him
The deal was bought and sold
I said, 'today, no deals I'll make
Until I ponder more
Upon the gift of freedom
And the closing of its door'
